2013 - Korat - Khon Kaen

We set out on a road trip from Bangkok, heading northeast into Isaan. Our first stop was Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat), where we stayed overnight to break up the drive. Korat, often called the “gateway to Isaan,” gave us a taste of the region’s culture before we continued further.

From there, we drove on to Khon Kaen, a province famous not just for its lively city but also for its prehistoric past. This area was once home to dinosaurs, and today it’s dotted with fascinating sites like Phu Wiang National Park, where fossils have been discovered. Exploring this part of Thailand was both exciting and educational — a mix of road trip fun, cultural discovery, and ancient history.
